~ Book Review : White Hot Kiss ~

Book Sixteen : White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L. Armentrout

And then he smiled - he smiled- at me, a real smile, revealing those deep dimples. "I lost myself the moment I found you."

Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.
Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever.
Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul.
But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

My thoughts: There has been a lot of hype/excitement/anticipation surrounding this book. I think mainly because Jennifer L Armentrout is the author of the Lux series, and we all know how much I LOVE that series! (click here to read my review on the lux series) White Hot Kiss was no different, I loved it!

I was immediately sucked into this book. I love contemporary romance book with a bit of twist in them. The main character, Layla, is half gargoyle and half demon. She struggles with her identity because she doesn't seem to fit anywhere. I found it interesting that Layla is continually struggling to keep her demon side at bay. Throughout the book we find out more about her parents, and her powers. I really enjoyed Layla as a main character, she didn't get annoying which is good. I loved her character growth, and that she learnt to accept who she is.

Lets be honest, how can you not love a book that has a smoking hot guy in it. Roth is your stereotypical bad boy. He is a demon, and is trying to protect Layla from other demons. Armentrout writes the most amazing male characters. They are funny and sarcastic, protective and strong. I LOVE HIM!

I enjoyed the story, and couldn't believe that twist at the end!! It was an easy and really quick read.
I am anxiously waiting for the release of book two later this year!

I would recommend this book to girls fourteen and up.
