~ Book Review : Incarnate ~

Incarnate
by Jodi Meadows

"Yep." Finally, we were going to Heart, the great white city I'd heard about since I was a child. "The idea of learning about what I am is" - I rolled my shoulders to keep the backpack straps from digging - "it's terrifying, because I might not like what I find out. But it's exciting." - Ana
"There's always the option of deciding for yourself who you are what you'll become." - Sam

NEWSOUL
Ana is new. For thousands of years in Range, a million souls have been reincarnated over and over, keeping their memories and experiences from previous lifetimes. When Ana was born, another soul vanished, and no one knows why.

NOSOUL
Even Ana's own mother thinks she's a nosoul, an omen of worse things to come, and has kept her away from society. To escape her seclusion and learn whether she'll be reincarnated, Ana travels to the city of Heart, but its citizens are afraid of what her presence means. When dragons and sylph attack the city, is Ana to blame?

HEART
Sam believes Ana's new soul is good and worthwhile. When he stands up for her, their relationship blooms. But can he love someone who may live only once, and will Ana's enemies—human and creature alike—let them be together? Ana needs to uncover the mistake that gave her someone else's life, but will her quest threaten the peace of Heart and destroy the promise of reincarnation for all?

Jodi Meadows expertly weaves soul-deep romance, fantasy, and danger into an extraordinary tale of new life.

My Thoughts : I adored this book. I hadn't heard a lot about this book or the series in general, so I was a little hesitant. The first three fourths of the book had a lovely pace to it. While others may call it slow, I thought it was easy to follow along and simply enjoy the story. I knew something big was going to happen eventually and boy did it! From that point on, I could not put the book down. Everything started moving so fast. Questions I had, thoughts, and things I found confusing were all address in the last quarter of the book.

I found Ana - the newsoul - to be such an easy character to like. She was brave, inquisitive, innocent, fragile, and caring. Despite what people would say she had a desire to find out why she was here and what happened to the other soul. I loved that she was brave and courageous when she needed to be, but it wasn't unrealistic - yes I know this is a fantasy book. - Sam, was also a character I just fell in love with. He found inspiration and a new purpose in life. I liked that he had a genuine fear, something we each can relate to - although not his exact fear. - I thought all around there were great characters in this book.

I am itching to get my hands on book two.
