Family History & Children's Books

Children's books have become one of my favorite ways to introduce family history to children. Family history is about so much more than names, dates, and records. At its heart, it is about people, memories, traditions, places, and the stories that shape who we are. Children's books have a unique ability to take these big ideas and make them simple, meaningful, and relatable.

I love using children's books as a gateway to family history because they naturally spark conversations. A story about a grandparent can lead to sharing memories of our own grandparents. A book about summer traditions can inspire discussions about favorite family vacations, recipes, or childhood experiences. Through stories, children begin to see that family history is not just something that happened long ago—it is being created every day.

These summertime books celebrate the joy of family, adventure, and memory-making while providing opportunities to preserve the stories that make each family unique. As you read together, I hope they inspire meaningful conversations and help your family discover where their stories lead.
