53 Week Memory Prompts: Intro and Week One

Image
Memories are made in ordinary moments, yet they often fade if we don’t pause to notice them. The purpose of these 53 memory prompts is to help you slow down, reflect, and capture the stories that make up your life and your family’s story, one small moment at a time. With one prompt for each week of the year, you’ll create a gentle rhythm of remembering. By the end of the year, you won’t just have answered 53 questions, you’ll have 53 preserved memories . Some may be brief, others detailed. Some may surprise you. All of them matter. There is no right or wrong way to record your memories. You might choose to write with pen and paper, type them into a document, record your voice, film a short video, or even share them through photos and captions. What matters most is that you capture them in a way that feels natural and meaningful to you. These prompts are not meant to be overwhelming or perfect. They are an invitation—to remember, to reflect, and to leave behind pieces of your story f...

Where Their Stories Lead

Image
Hello, I am Jaimie, and I created Where Their Stories Lead as a way to preserve the stories from my life and the lives of my ancestors. I received my associate's degree in Family History Research from Brigham Young University-Idaho. During my studies, I developed a love for stories - both fiction and non-fiction. I have learned that Family History is abundantly more than pedigree charts and records (although I love those), it is a way to remember and honor the lives of our ancestors. I truly believe that their stories did not end in the past, but are continued through us. We are a part of an ongoing story of those who came before us and those who will follow. We honor our ancestors by preserving their stories and connecting them to the lives we live today.  Where Their Stories Lead is a small space on the internet where you can find inspiration about how to connect across generations through storytelling and memory-keeping.

After having my first baby, I wanted to keep her close to me. I felt uneasy when she wasn't in my arms. Now she is thirteen, and I still long for her to be near me. However, as she begins to branch out, I hope she knows that I will be within reach. If she needs me, I will be there for her.  I also know that she will always be within reach of the Savior. No one can stray too far that the Savior cannot reach them. Much like with Peter. As we exercise faith in Jesus Christ, we will know to reach for Him when the heaviness of life begins to pull us under.    How do we reach out to the Savior? 1. Prayer - Share your thoughts, feelings, gratitude, and weaknesses. The more we reach out to the Savior in prayer, the more our relationship with him will develop. We will begin to feel like we are communicating with a close friend.  2. Scripture Study - Christ's life is documented within the scriptures. We can read the ways he reached out to those who needed him. If the S...
