~ Book Review : The Promise of Amazing ~

Book Seventeen : The Promise of Amazing by Robin Constantine

No one in the group thought he was choking for real. . . I was about to leave when I saw the animal-like panic in his eyes. I dropped my tray and wrapped my eyes around him from behind. . .
"Are you okay?" I asked.
Then he hurled all over my black Reeboks.

Wren Caswell is average. Ranked in the middle of her class at Sacred Heart, she’s not popular, but not a social misfit. Wren is the quiet, “good” girl who's always done what she's supposed to—only now in her junior year, this passive strategy is backfiring. She wants to change, but doesn’t know how.
Grayson Barrett was the king of St. Gabe’s. Star of the lacrosse team, top of his class, on a fast track to a brilliant future—until he was expelled for being a “term paper pimp.” Now Gray is in a downward spiral and needs to change, but doesn’t know how.
One fateful night their paths cross when Wren, working at her family’s Arthurian-themed catering hall, performs the Heimlich on Gray as he chokes on a cocktail weenie, saving his life literally and figuratively. What follows is the complicated, awkward, hilarious, and tender tale of two teens shedding their pasts, figuring out who they are—and falling in love.

My Thoughts : When I pick up a book, I usually have a general idea what some of the reviews have been. This book, however, was a pure cover buy. The cover, as you can see, is so cute and adorable. After reading the inside of the dust jacket, I was even more sure I was gonna love it. . . . . . I didn't end up loving it but I did like it.

The story begins with Wren saving Grayson's life when he starts choking. Grayson puking all over Wren after was pretty hilarious. They don't interact immediately after that incident, instead Grayson randomly shows up at her school the next day. I still can't figure out if that cute or the beginnings of a stalker? There love story takes of from there very quickly. It was a little too quick for me; however, if you are a fan of instant love than definitely pick up this book.

I did really enjoy reading about Wren. At the beginning of the book, she is very quiet and unsure about where she wants to go in life. As the story progresses, Wren finds her voice and herself. She becomes pretty outspoken in some parts and starts shutting people down. . . .I loved it!

Grayson, for me, was a bit harder to like. He had done some things in the past which he was trying to move on from; however, went back to doing that very same thing. I hated that he couldn't tell his "friend" Luke to shut up and go away. Those moments were so frustrating to read. He was also really quick to dive into, I love you, and about some of his past transgressions. For me, it just felt rushed.

Overall, it was a cute and really fast read.
If you are a fan of contemporary romance then pick this book up.
