~ Book Review : Time Between Us ~

Time Between Us
Tamara Ireland Stone

Someday soon, we will meet. And then you will leave for good. But I think I can fix it - I just need to make a different decision this time. Tell me to live my life for myself, and not for you. Tell me not to wait for you to come back. I think that will change everything.
Love
Anna

Anna and Bennett were never supposed to meet: she lives in 1995 Chicago and he lives in 2012 San Francisco. But Bennett has the unique ability to travel through time and space, which brings him into Anna’s life, and with him a new world of adventure and possibility.

As their relationship deepens, the two face the reality that time may knock Bennett back to where he belongs, even as a devastating crisis throws everything they believe into question. Against a ticking clock, Anna and Bennett are forced to ask themselves how far they can push the bounds of fate, what consequences they can bear in order to stay together, and whether their love can stand the test of time.

My Thoughts: From the first chapter, I was hooked. It was defiantly by far one of my favourite openings I have read. It set an amazing tone and anticipation for the rest of the book, and until the last few chapters the book did not disappoint (I'll explain my disappointment later.)

Anna, is living in Evanston, Illinois, 1995. She is sixteen, loves running, has a best friend named Emma, and dreams of traveling the world. Bennet is seventeen years old and living in San Francisco, California, 2012. Their paths were never suppose to cross; however, Bennet had to travel back to Illinois, 1995, for a reason that will be explained in the book, and he meets Anna. Of course they end up falling in love (this is a young adult contemporary romance after all.) Then, when Bennet saves Anna from a dangerous situation, by using his teleportation, he is left trying to explain his incredible gift. The story really takes off from there.

I loved the characters. I think both Anna and Bennet were amazing individual characters, but also made a great, realistic couple. I could see why they would be attracted to each other. I also loved the other characters in this book like Emma, Anna's best friend, and Anna's parents.

I thought Tamera Ireland Stone did a fantastic job at explaining the time travel element. Bennet can only travel within his life time, so from the second he was born till the current day in 2012. He can't go to 2020 and see what he is up to in the future or go back in time. I really liked how simple, yet still amazing, his ability to time travel was. Which meant that Bennet spent most of his time visiting exotic beaches and going to famous concerts. Bennet just enjoys his gift and doesn't use it to alter history or major events. . . . although his family has benefited from it.

So, if I loved the characters, the love story, the time travel elements, then why am I so frustrated!? The ending was super sweet, if this was just a contemporary romance without the time travel. But I have so many questions!!! How did he time travel at the end? Does he have to go back? What is happening to his life in 2012? Why couldn't he go back to Illinois? How can this story ever  have a happily ever after?

I headed to goodsreads to see if anyone else felt my frustrations. I did find someone ,who was reassured by the author, that all will be explained in book two, Time After Time, which continues from book one, but is written from Bennet's point of view. I really hope this is the case because I truly did love the concept of the book.

I think this book is perfect for those who love young adult romance books.
It is a time travel book but I think that is really secondary, and the love story being bulk of the  book.
