Our First Fourth of July in Utah!

Hope everyone had a great fourth of July!
This was our first fourth of July here in Utah, and my third with Aaron being with us since getting married! Our 4th turned out to be a lot more eventful and memorable then we thought it would be. Here is why . . . .

First, of course, we had American pancakes for breakfast, with sausage, bacon, and lots of maple syrup.

Then we had some downtime before heading over to my Sister's in-laws block party.

I decided to bring veggie kebabs as my side dish, and let me tell you they were delicious!

I used baby tomatoes, green, yellow, orange and red bell peppers, sliced mushrooms, and red onion.

There was tons of food there and we ended up eating way too much food! Seriously though, everyone who came made such delicious food, I wanted to try it all. . . . . and I did. So so good!

While we waited for the sun to go down, the kids had fun playing in the street. My sister's in-laws live in a cul-de-sac (my husband says technically it is called a knuckle) so the kids were completely safe to play. It was fun watching them ride around, and play together. This was our first block party, and although we didn't live on the block (or close to the block,) I loved it! I want to do more when we live on an actual block.

When the sun finally went down, we headed to the open field at the end of the street to set off the
fireworks. They had already set a couple fireworks off when I was getting ready to head down with the kids. As I was walking, I noticed two fireworks went sideways instead of the traditional straight up. Next thing I see is a fire! It spread really quickly, but luckily didn't have much to grab onto, and it was really hot, even though I was standing pretty far back.

We moved all the kids to the other side of the street, and waited for the fire department to arrive. A fire attracts a lot of spectators, and before we knew it our little block party had grown tremendously. Some people would drive around twice or even three times so they could get there phones out to record.

It didn't take the fireman long to come and put it out, and once they were all done, we were given the all clear to keep going.

It did feel slight deja vu because three days earlier we had attended a firework show at a local High School, and the neighbor was setting off fireworks in his backyard. Next thing we see is his yard engulfed in flames. This is a little video I took from that night.

I don't think we will ever forget our first 4th of July here in Utah!
