~ Book Review : The Infinite Moment of Us ~

Book Eighteen : The Infinite Moment of Us by Lauren Myracle

She stood there, lost in her thoughts, until a boy from her AP biology class gave her a tentative half wave from across the parking lot, bringing her back to the here and now. . . . . She realized that in that zoned-out state, she'd been randomly staring at him, possibly for quite a while.
Embarrassment coursed through her. Wren liked Charlie, but she didn't know him that well. He was in a couple of her honors classes. . . .
Now, yards away in the senior parking lot, Charlie dropped his hand, Now he was the self-conscious one. She waved back at him and smiled, relief rippled across his features. Immediately he smoothed his expression, but she'd seen, for a second, what he really felt.

For as long as she can remember, Wren Gray’s goal has been to please her parents. But as high school graduation nears, so does an uncomfortable realization: Pleasing her parents once overlapped with pleasing herself, but now... not so much. Wren needs to honor her own desires, but how can she if she doesn’t even know what they are?
Charlie Parker, on the other hand, is painfully aware of his heart’s desire. A gentle boy with a troubled past, Charlie has loved Wren since the day he first saw her. But a girl like Wren would never fall for a guy like Charlie—at least not the sort of guy Charlie believes himself to be.
And yet certain things are written in the stars. And in the summer after high school, Wren and Charlie’s souls will collide. But souls are complicated, as are the bodies that house them...

My Thoughts: I just want to start by saying that this book has the most stunning cover EVER! I can't get over how gorgeous it is. I love it!!

Okay, now time to vent - I honestly thought I was picking up another young adult contemporary romance; however, this is NOT young adult! I have read a couple new adult books which have a bit more romance in them, but I knew those scenes would appear in that type of book. I, personally, pick up a young adult contemporary book to get lost in the puppy love romance. The sexual content of this book became the main focus, or at least the only thing I can remember about the book, and it was not wrote well. I felt like it just thrown in there just because the author thinks this is how teens are today.  It was just extremely frustrating.

Lets talk about the characters. Wren is the protagonist and is (how do I put this nicely) rather annoying. I was so irritated by her from the beginning, but especially after she wanted Charlie (the love interest) to give up his plans after high school to be with her, when she clearly was not willing to do that for him. I wanted to like her but she ended up becoming more and more irritating.

Charlie was easier to like, he had a really interesting back story. He was extremely hard working, and had a lot of patience. I did not really understand why he liked Wren, and that was never really explained. I understood his weird relationship with his friend, Starrla; however, that girl was crazy.

Overall, I think there was just too many sub plots going on. In this book we read about last year of high school, what to do when high school was over, first love, teen sex, parents expectation, abuse, depression, attempted suicide, and I am sure I am missing some. It felt we touched on all those but couldn't dive in to any in detail. In the end it just felt very rushed.

I'm not sure who I would recommend this book too. I would definitely say seventeen and older.
I'm just so disappointed in this book.
